We've all heard of trans-seasonal dressing,
but what exactly does it mean?

I love a good definition, so let's unpack this. From slow fashion to making your wardrobe work harder.

Discover why trans-seasonal is a great concept.

Before we look at  what 'trans-seasonal' means, first we need to grasp the concept of slow fashion. This is at the heart of trans-seasonal dressing.

Slow fashion is about choosing higher quality pieces so they will have longevity in your wardrobe. It represents a shift in our approach to fashion, that aims to tackle the significant issue of excessive consumption and the resulting large amounts of waste in the fashion industry and resulting in landfill.

"Slow fashion is about choosing higher quality clothes"

At Pretty Eccentric have a more traditional seasonal approach of 4 seasons per year. This is in contrast to fast fashion High Street brands, who operate with far quicker production cycles. Our focus is on using high-quality fabrics and manufacturing, and as we create original designs, we take longer to produce our garments. Normally around 6 months from concept, to delivery to our store.
We think slow fashion equals good fashion.

Sorry if this sounds a bit serious but it's actually a pretty important issue and is something we take very seriously.
Trans-seasonal dressing goes hand in hand with slow fashion. It is about curating your wardrobe so that your pieces sit across seasons, which means less consumption, less landfill and you save money. Bonus!

"we design outside of fads and trends"

One the hardest things about trans-seasonal dressing is being able to change your approach to your wardrobe. It is about blurring the lines between winter and summer. It is about sartorial creativity and that is exciting!

OK let's talk tips...Pretty Eccentric is a great place to start because we design outside of fads and trends. Our pieces are inspired by the feminine eras of vintage glamour, so they never date and you can bring them out of the wardrobe year after year. That is true sustainability!

"bring them out of the wardrobe year after year"

Yes of course you can take your Pretty Eccentric dress out on a special occasion; but you can get creative with your styling and bring your favourite dress into your everyday wardrobe by mixing them with contemporary pieces for a fabulous eclectic look!
Grab some flats, some trainers or a great pair of boots, a leather or denim jacket or a blazer and a belt, a long cardigan and a belt bag and/or a scarf and you're set.
Have fun trying out different options at home so you know what works.
